If you are an avid runner and want to decrease race times or quicken your pace, maybe think about trying something fun and helpful on the side of your running: Pilates! Let me recommend Pilates for Runners with Laura Tarbell as a great way to have faster finishes, reduce injury and have greater endurance!
This intermediate-level program increases running efficiency by creating a stronger and more flexible body, by developing balance, and by producing ideal body alignment. These improvements allow you to use energy more efficiently, achieve faster finishes, reduce injury, and experience greater endurance. Both Pilates and running-specific exercises are used throughout the routine in order to target the specific needs of a runner. Consistent use of this routine translates into faster finishes and reduced injury. The entire 56 minute routine can be used on cross training days, or select chapters to warm-up, cool down or get in a quick body part specific workout.
Laura guides you through an hour of dynamic sequences which address imbalances in the runner’s body. Master running -specific Pilates exercises while strengthening the diaphragm, developing stable core muscles, and perfecting running posture and form.
And what is great is all you need for this workout is yourself and a Mat! This makes it great for doing anywhere or anytime this summer whether you are at home or traveling on summer vacations!
